What is Flower Crown?
Flower Crown is a two-player tile placement game I designed over a few months. The game went through many rounds of design, playtesting, and reworking. For the sake of brevity, I have included some basic information about the motivations behind the game, the core premise, and how you can try the game yourself! If you want to have more questions about the game, to learn more about the development process, or to play the game don't hesitate to reach out! My contact information can be found on my resume.
Motivations
Since playing “Cat in the Box”, I have been interested in lightweight area control games. I like the quick rounds and the small but reasonable benefit you get for doing well in the game's area control portion. I have also been reasonably enamored with lightweight bidding mechanics. Flower Crown attempts to blend these two mechanics in the same lightweight game.
Core Premise
In this two-player head-to-head game, you are competing with your opponent to win bids, allowing you to place flowers on a game board to win points. There are three ways to score points, so the players will weigh their options to outscore their opponent! Players will compete to score the most points and win the Flower Crown.
