What is Floristry?
Floristry is a two-player tile placement game I designed solo over a few months. The game went through many rounds of design, playtesting, and reworking. For the sake of brevity, I have included some basic information about the motivations behind the game, the core premise, and how you can try the game yourself! If you want to learn about the development process, please contact me. I would love to talk all about it!
Motivations
Since playing “Cat in the Box”, I have been interested in lightweight area control games. I like the quick rounds and the small but reasonable benefit you get for doing well in the game's area control portion. I have also been reasonably enamored with lightweight bidding mechanics. Floristry attempts to house both of these mechanics in the same lightweight game.
Core Premise
In this two-player head-to-head game, you are competing with your opponent to win bids allowing you to place objects on a game board to win points. There are three ways to score points so the players will weigh their options to outscore their opponent! Players will compete to score the most points and win the Flower Crown!
